IN MEMORY.

November 20. Today would have been my dad's 78th birthday. Here we are (brothers & sisters) last Christmas--a fortunate thing I suggested getting a picture taken, as it would be the last one we would have of him.

There's hardly a day yet that I don't think of him or miss him. I can't tell you how many times in the 6 years after my mom died, when I would take him to his various appointments, that I had to give his birthdate each time: 11/20/29. So the date sticks in my mind as well.

So this is just a little way to remember my dad on his birthdate.

My condolences, Vickie. I know it's got to be tough.

I have an uncle who was born in '29. I always assumed since he was the oldest of my father's brothers, he'd go first. Instead it was one of my father's younger brothers and it spooked us all. You always think there's more time until there's not.

I don't believe that we're ever really lost to each other, though. Just misplaced on different planes of life/spirit. We eventually all get reunited. It's the between-times that are hard.

No matter how old you are, it's hard to lose a parent. I agree with bunnygirl, they are just on a different plane. We'll all meet again.

That's a really nice picture. I bet you're so glad you took it last year.

My mom also passed away 6 years ago, and my sister and I really worried about my dad. You're a good daughter for taking such care of him.

I hope the good memories of your parents help to make the holidays happy for you :)

We think of my father in law even more so around this time of year as two years ago Thanksgiving "eve" he passed away...
He is definitely still with us in spirit!

Hi Vickie. I totally understand what you are saying. I always feel like I wish I could have them back to say that one last thing that I didn't get a chance to say. I know that it makes me that much more careful to live in the present and live life as much EVERYDAY as I can.
