I THINK MY PANTS ARE ON BACKWARDS!

At least that's what I was thinking this morning when getting dressed. I was wearing a suit I hadn't worn since last fall. Then, they were loose all over, due to a huge weight loss post-accident (which unfortunately I have since gained back). A lot of that was, I'm sure, due to muscle loss and atrophy. Today, they were (still) loose in the back (good thing!) but felt tighter in the front, where my quads are. A nice bonus to more running lately finally has me finding my quad muscles again. Yipee!

I wasn't expecting this. I would have expected it more this summer after all those 50 mile bike rides, and all the tris I did, but alas, that apparently never happened, probably explaining my consistently last place finishes at most of my tris (that and needing those skinnier tires I keep mentioning). It pretty much confirms for me then the greater necessity for me to continue on with my run buildup.

But now I get impatient, ready to do more, yet holding myself back to avoid injury. Its a battle I face constantly: wanting to run more or faster and yet being afraid of having an injury to deal with again. I keep looking for races to do here, but all I find are trail runs or 5ks, neither of which I want to do right now. Maybe a 5 mile or 10k? Nothing around. Unless I decide to do this: http://grturkeytrot.googlepages.com/home.

Yea for quads :) I too am seeing the quads and I love it.

I am having the same problem holding myself back. Did 5k this morning and felt so awesome I immediately started thinking of running again tomorrow. I've pulled myself back to reality (I hope :)

We could always start our own virtual race. We pick a weekend, train, predict results, do the run, and then blog to each other.

You are amazing. My main battle is getting myself out the door. Well, right now, it's getting healthy. :D

I like non-runner nancy's idea. :-)

I'm glad that those quads are bouncing back. Keep up the good work. :-)

oh i LOVE that race web page!! hysterical! its like one i found recently of a trail run - it was a 50k - no times, no shirts, no entry fee, little support.

do it! it looks like fun! i'm doing a turkey trot that is "about" 6 miles ... you have to guess the exact distance when you are done - closest guess wins a turkey. i guess the runners' who wear a garmin to that one are at an advantage!

Love to run, but holding back with caution. Always pulling in both directions.
Congratulations on how far you have come!!

We have a fun run here on Thanksgiving morning: run off the gravy before it is served.

Nicely toned arms and strong quads .. has a nice ring to it. Guess I'll keep at it.
Yes, that improves running time.

You are doing very well, Vicki. I am so impressed.
