THE EARLY BIRD...

gets the worm. Or, in my case, gets the workouts in, despite all the other chaos that's going on at work and at home. Just had to do a quick catch up because I have been swamped with work for the past 2 weeks with no end in sight until at least September--a major trial at the end of August, meaning a month of trial prep, and depositions spanning the next 3 weeks in another big case, as well as my own court case spinning out of control. And then there are my workouts, which, for the most part, are going okay.
But I learned a long time ago to not put off any workout I could do in the morning, thinking it would happen later in the day. It rarely does. Either I can't bring myself to do it after a long day at work because: its too hot, too cold, too dark, I'm too hungry, or whatever excuse I can come up with, or I get stuck working late, killing any momentum I might have had to workout after work.
So no matter how early I have to get up to get the training in, that's what I do. On the agenda for this weekend: 11 mile run Saturday; 65-70 mile ride Sunday. Oh, and then I get to come in to work the rest of the day.
Hope everyone's training is going well, you're enjoying your summer, and I'll catch up soon!

Glad to hear that work isn't cramping your workout style! Good for you doing what you need to do to get 'em done.

Good strategy! I too have sometimes postponed workouts only to find they didn't get done at all for a plethora of reasons. Thanks for the update on you. Good luck with your weekend workouts and all else you've got going on!

ME too! Life gets in the way...not much life going on at 4-5am;)

When that alarm goes off at 5, though, it is real tough to drag yourself out of bed. Or at least for me...

When I was commuting by train I had to get up at 4 a.m. to be able to make it to the gym. It is amazing but the mornings feel better (once we manage to crawl out of bed) after we work out.
Your workouts are exciting! so full of diversity!

It's better for me if I do my workouts in the morning also.

Just not so good if I have to do a LONG workout in the morning before work.

And apparently not so good if i have to do any sort of workout while on vacation. I've managed one short run and that's it so far. :-(

Sounds like you could use another vacation. Hang in there!

Hang in there. It is always hard to find the time for workouts, but that it when they are the most important. They are our refuge in the storm.

Take care and hope your long run went well.

I'm an early bird too. In fact, I start to lose interest if I'm not out the door by 6 a.m. You captured what motivates us larks to get a move on.

and I'll not use any excuse for missing my runs after work.

I'll be thinking of you....

Late congrats for your race. Early bird? Impossible for me, I don't succeed in running before 08.00 a.m.
