COUNTDOWN TO THANKSGIVING.

I am looking at this picture, dreaming that this will look something like the dinner I will have to make for Thanksgiving. It may be a pipedream, however.

For the second time in two years, my oven is BROKEN just before Thanksgiving. What are the odds?? I should go to Vegas.

Last year, my 20+ year old oven just stopped working, the week before Thanksgiving. By the time we got someone out to look at it, it was just a few days before and we decided it wasn't worth the money, despite the fact that I was having a few people for dinner later that week. I decided I would be able to manage, with my turkey roaster, crockpot, stovetop, and my trusty toaster/convection oven. With some detailed planning, everything worked without a hitch, and dinner was served promptly at 1 pm, the time my dad was hoping to eat.

This year, once again, and with a brand new stove/oven, the heating element broke (broke as in snapped and nearly caught on fire, damaging the floor of the oven as well) 3 weeks ago. It is under warranty, so we have to rely on a local company to come out and order the part. Three weeks later? No part. Its the Monday before Thanksgiving, and once again I am trying to work out all the logistics of cooking dinner for 10 people this year with no oven.
Needless to say, I am not happy about this. I am more organized on my Christmas shopping than I am going to be for Thanksgiving. We'll see what happens here. Stay tuned.

Wow Vickie, could the powers that be be telling you something about Thanksgiving??? I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job with dinner.

Go out! That's what we are doing since my oven is currently in the carport! :-)

You could all go to the Amway Grand for dinner - they have quite the spread and no work is required!

I would take it as a sign to go out to dinner....less stress. It's not like you're trying to get out of cooking. You have no oven!

Have a great Thanksgiving!!

It sounds like the universe is telling you to take exotic trips over thanksgiving. :D

I'm really sorry about your oven, I know what a pain that is.

Great job on the previous run, under 10's is awesome.
