I didn't plan it that way, but yesterday's run was nonstop, for the first time since before the ankle sprain. I was surprised and pleased, obviously! My only goal was to run 30 minutes, and if that included some walking, so be it. But once I started, I was amazed at how my legs felt. My legs, calves, and hip flexors had been REALLY sore after Saturday's run, to the point where walking downstairs was almost not an option. But maybe it was that delightful soak in Lake Michigan Saturday afternoon that brought things around, because Sunday morning I also road 16 miles, and then hit the lake again. Whatever it was, it worked.
Not that my 30 minutes broke any speed barriers. But it was nonstop! I just felt like I did not have to stop. I thought I should, but I did not have to. And its not like it wasn't a hot morning--75 degrees at 6:15 am. If I have been running 12 minute miles, along with the walks, I would be thrilled. I did time my Saturday run, and it was just below 12 min. miles, including the walks, so yes, I am happy enough.
My secret dream is to once again get back to a decent 5k time. I do miss the fast running, but to tell you the truth, as long as I'm running, I'm happy!

Good job on your 30mins non-stop!
I had to run on the treadmill yesterday and was determined to run 3 miles non-stop. But I got bored after 2 miles (I have no idea how anyone can run on a treadmill without becoming BORED beyond words).
Glad you had a good run. You are on the way back.
yeah for non-stop, and yeah for double workouts and cold water to soothe muscles! Very nice!
That's great Vickie!! Love the beach shots too!!
Great job on the non-stop run!! You are really coming along fast.
Good job! Getting back to where you were is just a matter of patience. A few months from now you'll wonder what all the fuss was about! :-)
well, your secret dream is not so secret anymore! it's a good dream ... and it will happen - all in good time. you will get there! it may just whack you in the head one day & you'll say - where the hell did that come from? and then you'll say - i'm back!
